Teenager and smoker accidentally set fire to 6 hectares of land in Lerik

A total of six hectares of shrubland were destroyed in two separate fires in Azerbaijan’s Lerik district on Wednesday due to careless use of fire, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
In the village of Takyaband, a teenager started a campfire on a pasture, resulting in the burning of two hectares. The teenager and a parent were summoned to the police station for a preventive conversation.
In a separate incident in the village of Durgan, a 46-year-old local resident, Malik Mahmudov, threw away a cigarette butt that sparked a fire consuming four hectares of land. An administrative protocol was issued against him.
Both individuals left the scene without reporting the fires to the relevant authorities.
