SOFAZ boosts gold holdings to 200 tonnes

The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) purchased 53.4 tonnes of gold in 2025, increasing its total gold reserves to 200 tonnes, the fund said in a statement.

According to SOFAZ, as of January 1, 2026, gold accounted for 38.2% of the fund’s investment portfolio, up 17.6 percentage points from a year earlier.

The fund said the increase was driven by both active gold purchases and a rise in global gold prices.
