Ramadan Bayram to fall on March 20, Caucasus Muslims Office issues guidance
This year’s Ramadan Bayram will fall on March 20, the Caucasus Muslims Office (QMİ) said in a holiday message from its chairman, Allahshukur Pashazadeh.
The date was determined based on calculations by the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory and fatwas from religious authorities in Turkic countries.
Pashazadeh noted that Ramadan Bayram coincides with Novruz this year.
The QMİ chairman recommended that those who can afford it give fitra zakat of 10–15 manat per person, emphasizing that giving fitra is a key practice of Ramadan and should be provided for each family member and distributed to those in need.
According to the guidance, fitra zakat should be given on the last day of Ramadan, after the evening prayer on the holiday, to ensure every family can celebrate the occasion.
