WUF13 to showcase housing solutions from 84 countries

The 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku on May 17-22, will introduce a new Practice Hub platform focused on practical housing and urban development solutions, the forum’s organizers said.

The platform will focus on project implementation, knowledge-sharing and peer learning under the forum’s main theme, “Housing for all: safe and sustainable cities and human settlements.”

Organizers said more than 200 submissions were received through a global call for initiatives, with 171 practices from 84 countries selected for presentation. The projects include initiatives by governments, civil society groups, the private sector, academic institutions and UN-Habitat partners.

Forum participants will be able to access the projects through an interactive digital platform and attend 11 interactive sessions dedicated to urban and housing challenges.

Organizers said the platform would remain available after the forum as a long-term digital knowledge base aimed at supporting the implementation of sustainable urban development policies worldwide.
