Azerbaijan State Security Service extradites terror suspect wanted internationally since 2009
Azerbaijan's State Security Service (SSS) has apprehended and extradited Namiq Agalarov, an internationally wanted terror suspect who had been on the run since 2009, the agency said in an official statement.
According to investigative findings, Agalarov operated within illegal armed formations across Afghanistan and Pakistan between 2008 and 2009. He is charged with orchestrating ambushes and deploying remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs) targeting the UN-mandated International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), as well as carrying out armed assaults on international aid personnel and supply convoys.
To evade criminal prosecution, Agalarov had resided under assumed aliases in multiple foreign jurisdictions while disseminating radical extremist ideology. Legal proceedings and interrogations are ongoing in Baku.
