Foreign arrivals in Azerbaijan drop 9.2% in Jan-Jul 2026
Azerbaijan welcomed 1,342,600 foreign nationals and stateless persons from 191 countries in January–July 2026, marking a 9.2% decrease year-on-year, according to the State Statistics Committee.
Russian and Turkish citizens accounted for the largest shares of inbound traffic at 28.3% and 20.0%, respectively, followed by travelers from Iran (7.9%), Georgia (4.7%), and Kazakhstan (4.6%). Visitors from Uzbekistan and Pakistan comprised 3.2% each, Israel 3.1%, India 2.6%, China 2.5%, and Saudi Arabia 2.3%.
Arrivals from European Union member states grew by 8.0% to 65,900, while visits from CIS nations increased by 1.6% to 531,300. Conversely, travel from the Gulf region plunged 32.8% to 159,500. By demographic, men made up 67.4% and women 32.6% of total arrivals; 72.4% entered the country by air, 26.2% by railway and road, and 1.4% via sea transport.
