ITU Academic Divisions to Open at Karabakh University
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has signed a decree approving the establishment of academic units affiliated with Istanbul Technical University (ITU) within Azerbaijan's Karabakh University, published in the Turkish Official Gazette (Resmî Gazete).
Under the presidential decree, the divisions, established in accordance with Turkish higher education legislation and subordinate to ITU's rectorate, will operate as integrated units of Karabakh University.
The initiative marks the next operational phase of the institutional partnership between the two universities. In January 2026, ITU and Karabakh University signed a memorandum of educational and scientific cooperation encompassing student and faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, dual-degree curriculums, and the collaborative design and management of engineering laboratories at Karabakh University. The agreement also provides for postgraduate and doctoral training at ITU to advance Karabakh University's academic staff capacity.
