Azerbaijan to raise budget funding for compulsory health insurance by 22.2%

Azerbaijan plans to allocate 1.1 billion manats from the state budget in 2027 to provide compulsory health insurance for the population, an increase of 200 million manats, or 22.2%, from the approved 2026 figure, Labour and Social Protection Minister Anar Aliyev said on Friday.
Speaking at a meeting of parliamentary committees, Aliyev said revenues of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund were projected at 2.257 billion manats next year, with spending of 2.98 billion manats. Some 2.565 billion manats would go towards insured medical services and healthcare staff salaries.
Spending by the State Social Protection Fund is forecast at 9.273 billion manats in 2027, 9.3% above the approved 2026 figure. Payments to the population would account for 8.95 billion manats. The average labour pension is expected to reach 639 manats, while the average old-age pension is projected at 680 manats.
Aliyev said 444,000 people were expected to take part in active employment measures financed by the Unemployment Insurance Fund in 2027. The government plans to help 173,000 people find jobs, enrol 14,500 in a self-employment programme and provide vocational training to 18,500.
