Armenia's central bank expects consumer prices to stabilise at the end of this year around the lower end of the forecast range for annual inflation of 2.5-5.5 percent, bank chairman Artur Javadyan said.

"Our assessment is that at the end of the year annual inflation will be at the lower threshold of our forecast of 4 percent plus or minus 1.5 percent," Javadyan told lawmakers in Armenia's parliament on Thursday.

The central bank on Tuesday cut its refinancing rate by 0.5 percentage points to 7.75 percent. Javadyan said the bank intended to continue a gradual easing of lending rates, given the low inflation environment.
