Iran seizes foreign oil tanker with contraband cargo

Iranian border guards have seized a foreign oil tanker carrying over two million liters of diesel fuel worth $18 million, state news agency Mehr reported on Monday.
The vessel, named Phoenix, was intercepted in the waters of Hormozgan province. The country under whose flag the tanker sailed has not been disclosed.
Iranian authorities have classified the cargo as contraband. There were 17 crew members aboard, all foreign nationals. The crew has been detained, and an investigation has been launched.
