48 new documents approved at the 83rd meeting of the CIS Railway Council – Viktor Popov
Since the 82nd meeting of the Council, a total of 48 meetings and consultations have been held as part of implementing the decisions of the railway administrations. This was stated by Viktor Popov, Chairman of the Council’s Directorate.
According to him, the first organisational meeting of the strategic group on the development of international transport corridors was held, and the prepared draft document was submitted to the 83rd meeting of the Council.
Popov also highlighted the IV International Passenger Forum held in St Petersburg and the XXXIV Tariff Conference in Baku, which resulted in the approval of the tariff policy of CIS member states for international freight transportation in 2026.
He thanked Azerbaijan Railways and personally Rovshan Rustamov for organising the “Young Railway Workers” forum and expressed hope that such meetings will become a tradition.
According to Popov, updating the Council’s regulatory framework remains a priority.
There are currently 400 approved documents across nine sections. During the intersessional period, 48 draft documents were prepared, six of which are entirely new.
As part of the work of the commissions 23 amendments were introduced into 10 documents on passenger services,
22 documents on wagon maintenance and operation were agreed,
the first methodological guidelines for calculating indicators of international transport corridors were prepared,
16 informatization documents were approved,
and a total of 110 amendments were adopted concerning the transport of dangerous goods and wagon operation.
Popov said that the draft protocol of the 83rd meeting received 56 comments, all of which were taken into account.
Changes were made to items 1 and 11 of the agenda.
“The protocol has been fully revised and is ready for signing,” he emphasized.
