Azerbaijan’s total grain production increased by 3% last year.

According to Report, Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said this in an interview with AzTV.

He said grain yields in the country rose from 31 to 33.4 centners per hectare.

Within the framework of the state programme aimed at increasing self-sufficiency in food wheat, yields rose from 40.6 to 56.7 centners per hectare last year.

The minister noted that the higher yields were achieved through the use of modern irrigation systems, stressing that the protection of water resources remains a top priority.
