ADY carries out major railway projects in Karabakh
Azerbaijan Railways has completed 40% of restoration work on the Aghdam-Khankendi railway section, ADY representative Suliddin Baghirov said.
Speaking at a panel on the role of railways in urban development, Baghirov said the section had become unusable during the occupation and was now being restored.
A railway station is being built in Khankendi and will be combined with a bus terminal and shopping mall, a concept Baghirov described as unique for Azerbaijan.
A boulevard will also be built from the station, he said, adding that the new transport hub is important for Khankendi as Karabakh University and other key facilities are located nearby.
In Aghdam, the railway station will also be combined with a bus terminal.
Baghirov said another major ADY project in the liberated territories is the Horadiz-Aghband railway section, where 72% of work has been completed.
After completion, the section is expected to be integrated into the Zangezur corridor, with passenger train services also planned.
