Draft deal includes waivers on sanctions targeting Iranian oil
A draft agreement between the United States and Iran includes temporary waivers on sanctions targeting Iranian oil exports, Sky News reported, citing details of the proposed memorandum.
Under the draft, Washington would allow Tehran to sell oil and receive export revenues for a specified period. The proposal also envisages that the United States would refrain from imposing new sanctions until a final agreement is reached.
The draft covers Iran’s nuclear programme, access to frozen assets and arrangements related to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The two sides would seek to negotiate a final accord within 60 days of signing the memorandum.
