The State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) has invested in Inkia Energy, Peru's largest independent power producer, through a partnership with leading infrastructure investor I Squared Capital (I Squared).

In February, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) acquired a 50% stake in Inkia Energy from I Squared. The remaining 50% was acquired via an investment vehicle managed by I Squared, in which SOFAZ is a co-investor.

Inkia Energy holds a diversified generation capacity of 2.6 GW across hydro, natural gas, solar, and wind assets, accounting for roughly 22% of Peru's total electricity production, along with a renewables pipeline exceeding 4 GW. SOFAZ noted that the investment aligns with its long-term strategy to enhance geographic diversification in Latin America and strengthen its portfolio with resilient infrastructure assets.
