Azerbaijan is prepared to increase its intake of Kazakh crude oil to 2.2 million metric tons per year, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

Currently, approximately 1.2 million metric tons of Kazakh oil are transported annually via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.

Asel Serikpayeva, advisor and official spokesperson for the Kazakh Energy Ministry, noted that temporary reception constraints at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal in July prompted the rerouting of certain export volumes to alternative channels. These included shipments toward the Port of Aktau, the Atasu-Alashankou pipeline, and the Atyrau-Samara route.

Earlier reports highlighted that Kazakhstan is evaluating the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Supsa pipelines, along with Caspian sea transit through Azerbaijan, as secondary export routes amid ongoing operational disruptions at the CPC network.
