Gold Falls, Silver Gains on Rate Hike Outlook
Spot gold slipped on Tuesday, September 1, while silver traded in positive territory as investors weighed Middle Eastern tensions against upcoming US labor market data that could guide Federal Reserve monetary policy.
According to Reuters, spot gold declined 0.4% to $4,428.54 per troy ounce as of 04:32 GMT, following a slide to its lowest levels since August 19 in the prior session. Bullion remained pressured by heightened expectations of Fed rate hikes following hawkish comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, as elevated interest rates diminish the appeal of non-yielding bullion.
