Joint development bank proposed for Turkic states to boost regional financing
Turkic nations may establish a joint development bank aimed at bolstering the bloc's standing across global financial markets, Turkish AK Party Deputy Chairman and Ankara MP Kürşad Zorlu announced during the 2nd International Conference of Leading National Think Tanks of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Baku.
Zorlu noted that while the Turkic Investment Fund continues its operations with a substantial capital base, launching a dedicated joint development bank represents the next structural milestone. Turkey has finalized a detailed regulatory blueprint translated into the respective national languages of member states, which will be submitted directly to the OTS Secretariat General.
The proposed financial institution is projected to unlock fresh liquidity and provide credit and loan support mechanisms for businesses operating across the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor. Zorlu further highlighted advances toward a unified 34-letter Turkic alphabet, noting Uzbekistan's ongoing transition process, and reiterated that Ankara views the Middle Corridor as a comprehensive economic growth platform rather than a simple transit route.
