The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has significantly upgraded its global crude oil price baseline forecasts for 2026 and 2027. According to the Fund’s October World Economic Outlook, the average price assumption for crude oil has been adjusted to $95.74 per barrel for 2026 and $87.39 per barrel for 2027.

Compared to its April baseline, the IMF raised its 2026 projection by $13.52 per barrel (16.4%) and its 2027 projection by $11.42 per barrel (15%). Despite the upward revisions, the Fund projects average oil prices in 2027 to soften by $8.35 per barrel, or 8.7%, relative to 2026 price levels.
