SOCAR Commissions Its 100th Petrol Station in Romania
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has officially launched its 100th fuel filling station in Romania. According to the company's local operating subsidiary, SOCAR Petroleum SA, the milestone facility was inaugurated in the eastern port hub of Galați along the Danube River.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, SOCAR Vice President Anar Mammadov underlined that Romania represents one of the pioneering European Union markets where the company established a branded retail presence 15 years ago, culminating in the 100-station network. General Director of SOCAR Petroleum SA Ramin Aliyev noted that investments in logistical infrastructure and regional storage depots enable uninterrupted direct supply from producers, reinforcing the group's intent to capture greater market share.
Operating in Romania since 2011, the subsidiary booked a turnover of 3.9 billion lei (approximately €750 million) in 2025, up 9.7% year-on-year. SOCAR currently operates three fuel storage depots in the country, with total cumulative investments in the Romanian economy reaching 400 million lei (approximately €78.4 million).
