Crypto Downturn Persists as Bitcoin Slides Toward the $76,000 Mark

Selling pressure across digital asset markets continued over the past 24 hours, keeping the majority of major cryptocurrencies on a downward trajectory. According to CoinMarketCap metrics, Bitcoin slipped 0.66% on the day to trade at $76,097.94. The benchmark cryptocurrency's losses widened to 6.17% over the last seven days and 11.81% over the past month, pulling its total market capitalization down to $1.53 trillion.
Major altcoins similarly trended lower: Ethereum dipped 0.18% to $2,238.91, BNB fell 1.15% to $686.10, Bitcoin Cash dropped 2.09% to $268.11, Bittensor slid 0.83% to $220.25, and Quant eased 1.15% to $188.28. Bucking the market-wide correction, privacy-focused tokens posted notable gains, with Zcash jumping 3.48% to $1,172.42 and Monero climbing 3.09% to $624.90. Gold-backed cryptocurrencies also preserved defensive momentum, as PAX Gold (PAXG) added 0.24% to reach $3,937.72 and Tether Gold (XAUT) gained 0.32% to hit $3,927.47. The CoinMarketCap 20 Index contracted 0.51% to 154.77 points. Market analysts attribute the subdued performance to sustained risk aversion among investors, pointing to diverging capital flows where safe-haven asset-backed tokens find traction while speculative crypto majors retreat.
