Azerbaijani banks’ loan portfolio grows 14% in January–October

Azerbaijani banks’ loan portfolio expanded by 14% in the first ten months of 2026 to 34.3 billion manats, central bank Governor Taleh Kazimov said.
Banking sector assets rose by 15.1% over the same period to 65.7 billion manats. Non-performing loans accounted for 2.7% of the total loan portfolio.
Household deposits increased by 12.9%, including a 13.7% rise in term deposits.
The banking sector’s structural liquidity surplus, excluding required reserves, reached 6.4 billion manats in October, 2.2 times its level at the end of last year, Kazimov said. Banks have capacity to extend an additional 4.6 billion manats in loans without breaching regulatory requirements.
The sector’s total capital adequacy ratio stood at 16.7% and its liquidity coverage ratio at 156%, both substantially above regulatory requirements, he said.
