The Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan published a newsletter on the results of EU-funded projects and programmes in Azerbaijan from October to December 2015. The newsletter covers the work of the EU Delegation in education, agriculture and rural development, social protection, justice, capacity building and cultural spheres in the country.
Among the major developments, the EU Delegation reported the signing of a Financing Agreement for the programme entitled "Support to Education in Azerbaijan”. Signed by the county’s government in December 2015, the total budget of the agreement amounts to EUR 19 million.
In November 2015, the EU Delegation launched a new EU-funded Technical Assistance project entitled "Support to E-Agriculture in Azerbaijan: innovative and effective agricultural policy management for higher productivity and competitiveness" with the budget of 1.5 million EUR.
In October last year, TAIEX organised an expert mission on Actuarial Modelling of Public Pensions Schemes. In the same period, the EU Delegation signed a Twinning contract to strengthen the post of the Commissioner for Human rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Later, the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GIZ), together with the Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, conducted a number of training seminars within the EU co-funded project entitled "Support to civil service training capacities with a focus on EU affairs” with the budget of 1.25 million EUR.
Finally, the Sixth European Film Festival in October-November 2015 had a record number of participating countries – 18, plus Azerbaijan.
