Georgian authorities to allocate about $2M to celebrate Independence Day

The Georgian government will allocate 5.3 million lari (about $2 million) for Georgian Independence Day celebrations on May 26, reported from Georgian media.

The celebration of Independence Day on May 26 coincides with the date of the declaration of independence of Georgia in 1918 by the First Democratic Government led by Noe Zhordania. The First Democratic Republic lasted two and a half years.

The Ministry of Finance of Georgia will allocate the money from the reserve fund of the government administration.

The celebrations on this day mostly take place on Freedom Square and Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. Various concerts and theater shows are organized not only in the capital but also in the regions.
