Ghost ship crewed by cannibal rats ‘heading to Britain’

A ghost ship supposedly crewed by hundreds of cannibal rats could be heading to British shores, experts fear. The Lyubov Orlova cruise ship, named after a Russian actress, has been adrift in the North Atlantic for the past 12 months.Coastguards now believe the floating derelict, cut loose near Canada in 2013, could be driven thousands of miles towards Britain following the recent storms, according to the Sun.‘She is floating around out there somewhere,’ researcher Belgian Pim de Rhoodes told the newspaper.‘There will be a lot of rats and they eat each other.‘If I get aboard I’ll have to lace everywhere with poison.’The 1976 Yugoslavia-built ship was being towed to the Dominican Republic to be scrapped last year when the tow-line to a tug broke in rough seas. The Canadian government then sent out another ship to drag it out to sea and release it.Irish coastguard chief Chris Reynolds believes the 4,250-ton vessel, spotted 1,300 nautical miles off Ireland last year, is likely to be still afloat.‘There have been huge storms in recent months but it takes a lot to sink a vessel as big as that,’ he said.‘We must stay vigilant.’(metro.co.uk)ANN.Az
