These shocking pictures show the horrific injuries suffered by a 16-year-old boy when a violent thug clubbed him over the head in a park.
The teenager was battered from behind by the unknown assailant while out late on January 10.
He suffered 'significant' brain and head injuries and was rushed to hospital in a life threatening condition.
Astonishingly, despite the sickening attack, medics were able to treat the horrendous injuries and the boy is expected to make a full recovery.
Now police have released these images as they attempt to hunt down the attacker.
The boy, who has not been named, was attacked between 9pm and 10pm on at the rear entrance of the park on Tomkinson Road, Nuneaton, Warkwickshire.
PSI Mitch Thomas of Nuneaton CID said, 'This is an unusual attack in a secluded area, but one often used by dog walkers at the time in question.
'This is a violent and unprovoked attack where a young man appears to have been singled out for no apparent reason and struck over the head with such force it caused a life threatening brain injury which fortunately for all was diagnosed and treated in time.'
Police are appealing for any information regarding the attack. Anyone who can help has been asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 153 of January 17, 2015.
