How not to set off fireworks

Fireworks are designed to dazzle up in the air – but this incredible photograph shows that they can be pretty impressive when they go off on the ground, too.

The amazing image – titled Explosive New Year 2014 - was taken by photographer Kimmo Kulovesi on New Year’s Eve in Helsinki and captures the moment a firework misfired and covered revellers in sparks. He posted the picture on photo-sharing blog Flickr – with no explanation. However, Mymodernmet.com tracked him down and asked him to shed light on the eye-popping image. The Finnish photographer explained that the firework had blown up on the ground, but wasn’t necessarily a misfire, that it may have been a deliberate prank, as it happened twice in 15 minutes.Fortunately no one was injured in the explosion, which occurred near his home. The mesmerising trails of light were captured using a two-second exposure, he told the website. He said: ‘All those different lights are just parts of the same firework, and the result is a combination of luck and timing.’The photograph has attracted plenty of positive comments, but Kulovesi modestly added: 'I think most of the credit goes to that guy in the picture who failed at launching the fireworks into the sky.'(dailymail.co.uk)ANN.Az
