Iranian Navy seizes tanker with over 700,000 liters of smuggled oil

The naval forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have detained a tanker in the Persian Gulf carrying more than 700,000 liters of smuggled oil, according to the information,which cites the Tasnim news agency.

The Togo-flagged tanker, identified as Pearl G, was seized on July 26 near the Arash oil field while in the process of transferring contraband fuel from an Iranian vessel. 

All nine crew members aboard the tanker are Indian nationals, according to the statement. The tanker itself is owned by an Iraqi citizen residing in Dubai.
