Iraq and Azerbaijan signed an agreement to exempt diplomatic and service passports from having entry visas in both countries.

The agreement was signed in Baghdad with the attendance of Iraqi foreign minister Hoshiar Zebari and his Azerbaijan counterpart, Elmar Mammadyarov.

The Azerbaijan delegation met earlier with Iraqi premier Nouri al-Maliki.

In a statement, both sides discussed developing relations between the two countries, expanding cooperation in the fields of energy and education, as well as transport and aviation.

Both sides will work out launching a direct flight and opening an Azerbaijan embassy in Baghdad.

Other political issues were also discussed, the statement said.
