Israeli President Isaac Herzog, at a meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, has expressed hope for an early conclusion of an agreement on the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip, reported from Herzog's press service.

"Our [Israel's] main interest is to bring the hostages home. We are working tirelessly for their release. I sincerely hope that a deal will be reached to release the hostages in the near future," the Israeli president said at a meeting with Lammy in Jerusalem.

The British foreign secretary, in turn, noted that he was "making diplomatic efforts for this.”

"I hope that we will soon see a ceasefire [in the Gaza Strip],” the head of the British Foreign Office added.
