Evening of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s music in New York brings together diplomats and diaspora

A concert program titled “Firuza: Musical Mosaic,” dedicated to the 140th anniversary of renowned Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, was held in New York.
The event was supported by the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan and attended by the heads of the permanent missions of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Kazakhstan to the United Nations, as well as diplomats and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
Performances were given by Azerbaijani pianist and Honored Artist Nargiz Aliyarova and violinist Karen Bentley Pollick. The program featured works by Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Gara Garayev, Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, Lala Jafarova, and composers from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, and Turkey.
A Kazakh folk song, “Yapyray,” was one of the evening’s highlights.
The concert, organized by the Society of National Music and Global Culture, aimed to unite diverse cultures through music.
