Valery Meladze concert cancelled in Kyrgyzstan
A concert by singer Valery Meladze has been cancelled in Kyrgyzstan, his producer Pavel Rudchenko said, citing authorities’ concerns over possible political statements during the performance.
The concert was scheduled as part of Meladze’s Central Asia tour. Rudchenko said the artist had sent guarantee letters to authorities in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, pledging to refrain from political remarks and expressing respect for the peoples of those countries.
Meladze left Russia in 2022 following developments related to Ukraine. According to his producer, the singer may be among artists facing concert restrictions across parts of the eastern region.
