"I brought nuclear warheads here. Not just a few, but dozens," he said.
Lukashenko was responding to a question about plans to deploy Russia's "Oreshnik" missile system in Belarus, which is not a nuclear weapon but has great power.
"Using nuclear weapons is a great responsibility. At least since Hiroshima and Nagasaki (US nuclear bombing of these Japanese cities in 1945), no one has pushed the nuclear weapon button. Not even the most powerful large states, let alone Belarus. But I have warned all my enemies, 'friends' and rivals: if you step on the line of the state border, the response will be immediate. I won't look at whether it's nuclear weapons or something else," said the president.
He noted that the country has thirty sites for deploying the "Oreshnik" complex, and Minsk will choose based on the minimum distance to potential targets.
