A Chinese man has created a spectacular model of his sprawling hometown by painstakingly stacking up 50,000 coins - without using glue.
He Peiqi spent a month piling up both ancient and modern coins from 11 different currencies to make a model of Southwest China's Chongqing City, the largest city of the country with a population of over 30 million.
The artist, from the Yongchuan District of the city, worked for at least two hours a day, kneeling down to create skyscrapers, roads and bridges, the People's Daily Online reports.
He told the newspaper: 'The red agate represents the Yangtze River and the green agate is Jialing River.
'I have paid particular attention to the main landmarks including the East Water and Chaotian Gates as well as Nanbing Petronas Towers ie Sheraton Hotel also.
'Ancient Chinese coins, current day Chinese coins and foreign coins have all been used. In total there are 11 types with over 50,000 coins used in total.'
He, who was born in the 1980s, explained that he was able to get plenty of materials for his masterpiece because he is in the coin trading industry.
He was able to source different types by purchasing them from other coin collectors and waited until he had enough before starting the ambitious art work. More than half of the model is devoted to the Yuzhong peninsula.
When reporters visited his home to view 'Chongqing, how are you!', he told them, "Be careful not to touch it!' though fear of the model collapsing.
