Media: Ukraine president's office to try to remove Kyiv mayor Klitschko

The Office of the President of Ukraine will soon try to remove Vitali Klitschko from the post of Kyiv mayor, reported from Strana.ua.

A petition has already appeared on the website of the Ukrainian leader calling for Klitschko to be removed from office while the situation is being investigated due to the unsuitability of the bomb shelter, near which three people died on June 1. Currently, the commission, which includes representatives of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations, the police and district administrations and services of the city, is checking urban shelters.

In turn, Klitschko himself, after inspecting the shelters, initiates the dismissal of several district leaders who are members of the pro-presidential Servant of the People party.

"These commissions are led by the heads of districts, who were appointed by the President's Office without the presentation of the mayor of Kyiv. That is, this is already a conflict of interest. The commissions are absolutely led by people with interests, how in this case can we talk about the transparency of inspections," the source says.

According to the source, Klitschko's removal will not solve the issue, but will only give one advantage to the Office of the President. It lies in the fact that after the end of martial law, the Office will have starting positions before the elections.
