Kanika Kapur, who hails from New Delhi, has been crowned Miss Asia 2015 in the beauty pageant held at Le Meredian, Kochi on Tuesday, 18 August.
Kapur, 20, competed against 13 other contestants from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bhutan, China, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tibet, Turkmenistan, the UAE and Uzbekistan, to bag the prestigious title. The winner has been awarded Rs 5 lakhs. International Business Times reports.
Meanwhile, Miss Philippines Alfe Marie Nathanile Dagle Uy, aged 25, has been selected as the First Runner up. She works as a personnel manager in a well reputed trading company in Dubai, UAE.
Miss Azerbaijan, Djeyla Quliyeva, 23, has become the second runner up in the Miss Asia 2015 contest.
Asian supermodel Larisa, Malayalam actress Ambika, film director Sohan Roy, 2012 Miss World Sri Lanka Sumudu Prasadini, 2006 Miss India World Natasha Suri were the judges of the show, which had three rounds of competitions -- National Costume, Black Cocktail and White Gown.
Earlier, Kapur was selected as Miss Queen of India at the 5th edition of Manappuram Miss Queen of India, which took place at ITC Grand Chola, Guindy, in Chennai on 18 April.
Kapur, a student of Journalism and Mass Communication has also won titles like Miss Mood Indigo 2013 and Femina Style Diva North 2014. She has also acted in the 2015 Telugu project "Tippu"
Miss Asia 2015 was sponsored by Manappuram Finance Limited and was organised by PEGASUS.
