Mollazade: Turkey seeks peace in the region

Turkey wants peace and stability in the Caucasus. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu pursued exactly this goal during his meeting with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan as part of the conference of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Yerevan, said Asim Mollazade, chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party of Azerbaijan. In an interview with Gun.Az, Mollazade, also a member of parliament, said: “You have to bear in mind that Armenia is no longer an independent state. It has turned into a Russian province like Kaliningrad and is not ready for any serious steps.“We, of course, appreciate Turkey’s aspirations for peace and Azerbaijan is very interested in peace in the region. We need peace urgently. We are grateful to everyone who supports us on this. But I don’t think this meeting will have a positive outcome because of Armenia’s stance. Armenia does not have an independent position and it is not running its own affairs.

“Armenia is not an independent state. Armenia will soon demonstrate to the world that it is not ready for steps in this regard. Armenia has repeatedly tried to deceive the world on some issues. For example, Armenia was allegedly taking an active part in the Eastern Partnership Program. But it chose the Customs Union in the end. We have seen Armenia behaving like this many times.”
