Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev received the Israeli ambassador in Baku, Rafael Harpaz, who is about to complete his diplomatic mission in the country.
According to the state news agency Azartac, Aliyev praised Harpaz`s contribution to the development of Azerbaijani-Israeli relations, wishing him success in his future work.
The Israeli ambassador thanked Aliyev, saying he will always remember Azerbaijan.
Harpaz was also received by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
The ambassador said he "speared no efforts” to help expand Israel’s relations with Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov, for his part, praised Harpaz’s contribution to the development of ties between the two countries.
Azerbaijan, often referred to as Israel’s closest Muslim ally, provides about 40 percent of the Jewish state’s need for crude oil.
Israel sells high-tech weapons to Azerbaijan such as drones and missile systems.
