Pipeline carrying Azeri gas to Turkey blown up again

An explosion took place on Monday evening at the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars gas pipeline in Turkey's southeastern Kars province following an attack by PKK terrorists, İhlas news agency reported.

A group of 20 terrorists attacked the pipeline near the village of Yabasan in the district of Sarıkamış in southeastern Turkey's Kars province late Monday.

Kars Governor Günay Özdemir confirmed that the terror attack was carried out by the PKK. The PKK terrorist organization is known to have launched many attacks in the region, targeting the pipelines.

At the end of July, the PKK terrorists had attacked the Kirkuk-Ceyhan oil pipeline in the southeastern border province Şırnak. However, having faced heavy criticism by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq following the attack, the PKK's armed wing People's Defense Force (HPG) had later released a contradictory statement, disowning the attack for which it had taken responsibility at the beginning.
