Azerbaijani, Russian FMs discuss Middle East crisis in phone call

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov held a phone conversation on Wednesday to discuss the fallout from the escalating confrontation between Israel and Iran, Azerbaijan’s foreign ministry said.
The two ministers discussed the current regional security situation resulting from the Israel-Iran conflict, as well as bilateral and regional cooperation between Baku and Moscow.
Lavrov thanked the Azerbaijani leadership and relevant agencies for helping evacuate Russian citizens from Iran, including cultural figures.
Both sides expressed deep concern over the security situation and stressed the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means. The ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
