Zelenski says fragments of Russian “Iskander” missile hit Azerbaijan’s embassy in Kyiv
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that fragments of a Russian “Iskander” ballistic missile struck the building of the Azerbaijani Embassy during Russia’s overnight attack on Kyiv.
Writing on social media platform X, Zelenskiy said the strike left dozens injured, including children and a pregnant woman, while four people were killed.
According to him, Russia used about 430 drones and 18 missiles, including ballistic and aero-ballistic weapons.
“This was a deliberate attack aimed at inflicting maximum harm on civilians and civilian infrastructure. Dozens of residential buildings in Kyiv were damaged. The Embassy of Azerbaijan was hit by fragments of an Iskander missile,” he said.
Zelenskiy noted that Kyiv was the main target, with strikes also hitting the Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa regions. He added that Russian forces used a “Zircon” missile in Sumy region on Thursday morning.
He said Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Air Force Commander Anatoliy Kryvonozhko had already reported on rescue operations and air-defense results.
