Russia seeks to resume operations of ‘Russian House’ in Baku

Russia intends to continue contacts with Azerbaijan in an effort to resume the operations of the “Russian House” cultural centre in Baku as soon as possible, a senior Russian Foreign Ministry official said.

Mikhail Kalugin, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Fourth CIS Department, said Moscow would maintain dialogue with Azerbaijan’s foreign policy authorities across the full bilateral agenda, including humanitarian cooperation.

He said Russia was looking for mutually acceptable solutions to enable the early reopening of the Russian House in Baku, adding that the centre had previously made a tangible contribution to strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries.
