Aliyev says Armenia will no longer be a “dead end”
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that improved regional transport connectivity would allow Armenia to overcome its current isolation and integrate into broader economic networks.
Speaking at an event titled “Breakfast with the Leadership of Azerbaijan” on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Aliyev said Azerbaijan was the only reliable, safe and friendly hub linking Europe with Central Asia.
He highlighted Azerbaijan’s role in the EU’s Global Gateway project and said Baku had already made significant investments in transport infrastructure. Rapidly growing cargo volumes, he added, had prompted a decision to expand the capacity of the Baku Trade Seaport.
Aliyev said the development of transport corridors, including the TRIPP initiative, would contribute to peace in the region. “Armenia will no longer be a dead end, will benefit from transit tariffs and become part of large-scale international cooperation,” he said.
