More than 124 Israeli companies are currently operating in Azerbaijan
More than 124 Israeli companies are currently operating in Azerbaijan, reflecting the steady growth of bilateral economic cooperation, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during a visit to Baku by Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen.
Bayramov said Azerbaijan-Israel relations are strategic in nature, covering energy, economic cooperation, security and humanitarian ties. He noted that during the visit, Cohen was received by President Ilham Aliyev and cooperation documents were signed between the two sides.
He said energy cooperation has entered a new phase, highlighting SOCAR’s acquisition of a 10% stake in Israel’s offshore Tamar gas field in the Mediterranean in 2023 as a key milestone.
According to Bayramov, transport, agriculture, high technology, water management and tourism are among the priority areas for expanding bilateral cooperation.
He added that the number of Israeli tourists visiting Azerbaijan increased more than twofold in the first 11 months of 2025 compared with the previous year, with the countries considering an expansion of direct flights.
Bayramov also addressed the situation in the Middle East, stressing the importance of maintaining a ceasefire in Gaza and resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through diplomacy in line with international law.
