Baku says Azerbaijan’s airspace will not be used for strikes against Iran
A telephone conversation took place between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said.
The ministers discussed the situation surrounding Iran, with Bayramov noting that rising regional tensions are a cause for concern. He stressed that Azerbaijan has consistently emphasized the need to refrain from steps and rhetoric that could lead to instability in and around Iran.
Both sides underlined that existing issues should be resolved exclusively through dialogue and diplomatic means in line with the norms and principles of international law.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said it was particularly emphasized that Azerbaijan will never allow its airspace or territory to be used by any state to conduct military operations against neighboring Iran or any other country.
The ministers also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues.
