328 missing Karabakh victims identified
Forensic molecular genetic testing has successfully identified the remains of 328 individuals reported missing during the First Karabakh War, announced Adalat Hasanov, director of the Ministry of Health's Forensic Medical Examination and Pathological Anatomy Union, during the 4th International Conference of the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons. Identified civilians include 15 women and two minors.
Hasanov stated that human remains believed to belong to 913 missing individuals have been transferred from liberated territories to forensic facilities. Laboratory examinations revealed trauma marks—including bullet, shrapnel, and blunt-force impacts—on skeletal fragments from 474 individuals.
Following primary skeletal analysis, biological samples taken from recovered teeth and bone fragments are submitted to the State Security Service's Genetic Research Center to establish definitive DNA profiles and cross-match identifications.
