Western media completely indifferent to European migration, says Azerbaijani president

For the first time since the Second World War, the European Union has faced a major humanitarian disaster. Hundreds of thousands of people have become refugees due to the external intervention, go to Europe to stay alive and find a shelter. There is a great migration. This is a major humanitarian disaster, APA reports. 

 

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks on Tuesday at the meeting dedicated to economic issues and preparation of the state budget for 2016.   

The head of state said these people have been facing this humanitarian disaster for several years now.

 

"Unfortunately, the western media is totally indifferent to it. And today a portion of these people are heading toward Europe, and now the western media is spreading these images day and night, as though these people are to guilty for this situation. These people are not to blame for at all. Rather they are victims of purposeful policies and foreign interventions. They have no other choice. They are supposed to protect their families. Therefore, today’s humanitarian catastrophe is theirs in the first place,” said the president.

 

As for the policy of the European Union, President Ilham Aliyev said that time will show how loyal the EU remains to its commitments to the values it has declared: "Now everything is clear. We see that torture is allowed against these desperate people and their dignity is lowered. There is an extensive campaign against these people. We can not put up with it. We each have a say on the issue,” stressed President Aliyev.
