Shah Deniz 2 creates over 15,000 jobs in Azerbaijan

More than 15,000 jobs have been created in Azerbaijan as part of the implementation of the Shah Deniz Phase Two natural gas project, according to Baxtiyar Aslanbayli, the BP vice president for communications, external affairs and strategy.

BP currently employs 2,900 Azerbaijani nationals, he said.

The UK company is the operator of the Shah Deniz and ACG energy development projects in Azerbaijan.

Shah Deniz 2 is to export 10 billion cubic meters of gas to the European Union and 6 billion cubic meters to Turkey from 2018. The project is estimated to cost $28 billion.
