Ex-head of International Bank of Azerbaijan ordered held in prison

The Baku Court of Appeals has upheld a verdict by the Narimanov district court to arrest Cahangir Haciyev, former head of the state-owned International Bank of Azerbaijan, for four months pending trial.

Haciyev was arrested last week on charges of abuse of office and embezzlement. He headed the largest Azerbaijani bank for 14 years before tending his resignation in March for "health reasons”.
