Azerbaijan’s National Security Ministry cuts 250 jobs

Azerbaijan’s National Security Ministry has cut 250 jobs, first deputy minister Madat Quliyev told reporters on Friday.
Quliyev said more ministry staff will be made redundant.
"I think the ministry needs a smaller staff,” Quliyev said.
Commenting on the recent arrests of senior ministry officials on charges of abuse of office and corruption, Quliyev said:
"The investigation is still continuing. Those found guilty will definitely be imprisoned.”
President Ilham Aliyev fired his longtime National Security Minister Eldar Mahmudov in a surprise move in Oct.
Several high-ranking ministry officials were later arrested.
